Resources – free and otherwise – for designers

Designers need high quality images in their work all day, every day. The client budget does not always allow for purchasing images or vectors, but of course, high quality work is still expected. For this reason, I have an arsenal of resources for free stock photography , vectors, icons and mock ups to help me along my way in delivering top notch design. Here is my list:

Photography:

  1. https://www.pexels.com/
  2. https://unsplash.com/
  3. https://picjumbo.com/
  4. and to an extent http://www.freegreatpicture.com

For vectors, my go-to is number one on the list:

  1. https://www.freepik.com/
  2. http://all-free-download.com
  3. https://www.vecteezy.com/

Colour schemes:

Nothing beats color.adobe¬†(was known as Kuler for a bit until recently). This superlovely online app allows you to browse existing colour schemes, upload your own colour to create new colour schemes from and a whole bunch of functionality which my be just what you need when you get stuck…
